Ruby’s 1969 Honda CL 350 has been quite the project. After a top-end rebuild, the bike was still not cooperating, so it was time to dig in and see what needed to be done to get this beast back on the road…
Tweaks, banging and cursing finally brought this Honda CL 350 around to where it should be, and the bike fired up, and ran decent. Problem was, it was running without load. Once you fire it up and get it going around the block, you start to notice all the issues that will be present in the ‘real world.’
There is still tweaking to be done with the carbs. The Uni Filter ‘air pods’ we inherited may make it a little difficult, but at least we are in the home stretch. These usually require rejetting, but we had hoped that since they were on the bike before, that the previous owner may have taken care of that. But, that was not the case…
Below is a video of Danny heading off around the block on the Honda CL 350, to see what’s what…

Looking good! What’s the rectangular piece covering the ends of the exhaust tip – is that actually part of the factory exhaust?
If you are talking about the black part – that’s a heat shield. I’ve never seen one like that on these scramblers, but it was on there when she got the bike.
Yup, that’s what I was looking at. If it’s factory… I can see why so many are missing it. Still an awesome oem exhaust / bike!
Best looking exhaust they made! But I think there are others that have the same style heat guard as the front pipes have.
