Some new bars add a new look to the 1970 Harley Shovelhead…

When Brandon brought the 1970 Harley Shovelhead to the shop, it came complete with a custom frame, and some forks and handle bars that looked far too big on this bike.  One of the first things he decided to change was that front end look, to slim it down and make it more manageable…

A new front end for the Harley Shovelhead…

The new bars for the Harley Shovelhead…

Brandon had expressed some concern about the bars that came on the bike.  They were wide, and he said while turning, he couldn’t get a full grip on both sides.  Certainty not safe!  So Brandon ordered some new bars, and while he was at it, with the front end apart, he figured he might as well replace the super wide forks as well.

Once you are messing with the forks, might as well replace that front 21″ wheel with a smaller 19″…

So the Harley Shovelhead is taken down, and the mods have begun in earnest.  With these changes, not only will the esthetics of the bike be improved, but hopefully the handling as well.

Stay tuned to more updates on the progress…
