After sitting for 8 months, the Honda CB550 gets snowed in…

When I made the move to Vermont, I was not able to get all my stuff in the moving truck.  So a few things were left behind, including the Honda CB550 I had worked so hard on…

The Honda CB550 abandoned and neglected…

Bringing the Honda CB550 home in the snow…

I put a lot of work into this bike.  It was the first motorcycle that I had messed with since I was a kid, and most of the repairs and mods were done on the curb in front of my Brooklyn apartment.  The trials and tribulations of this build can be seen HERE: But other bikes came and went, and this poor Honda CB550 sat in a garage gathering dust (and rust!) for quite a while.

When I traveled back down to the city for the holidays, I knew I’d be unearthing this neglected bike, and bringing it back north for another restoration.  There are some changes I wanted to make to it anyway, so with a little love, it should be closer to what I envisioned for it.

First up will be removing the luggage rack.  That thing hauled my gear all over the place, but with another bike now fitting the bill of long-distance rider, this thing can be retired.  The tank will certainly need some attention, and will get a fresh coat of oil to bring out the raw metal.

There may be some more extreme mods in its future, but the direction will become more obvious as the layers of rust and grime are stripped away…

Stay tuned…
