After seeing some of the posts on MotoPreserve for the work done on the Honda MT250 Elsinore, reader Donald from the UK wrote in and included a few photos for us to share…

Back in Brooklyn, Jared and I had worked a bit on an classic dirt bike, the coveted Honda MT250 Elsinore.  We had a hard time finding some of the parts needed to update this 2-stroke beauty to a more reasonable, current ride.

Seems MotoPreserve reader Donald, who resides in the UK, has been having similar issues sourcing parts in the UK.  Apparently Donald has been scouring the internet in search of a side panel (even damaged that could be used for a repop) and a rev drive cable for this 1973 Elsinore.

Donald let us know that at 81, he has been riding motorcycles since 1947.  This means he has seen more than his share of classic bikes.  We also imagine there are an amazing story (or 1000!!!!) that Donald could tell.  This Elsinore was found in Belvadere, Nebraska, and has been almost fully completed.  A couple parts left, and this baby will be back on the road in search of more stories…

  1. “Sorry folks” but to make it a little more in keeping I got a Nebraska licence plate off e bay, and intended to fit it under the UK reg plate to show its origin.
