Custom rearsets for the Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer are complete!

There is no question that Danny began to get a little frustrated with the making of the custom rearsets for his Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer build.  After a few different designs, and some changes to the overall look of the pieces, he has emerged with some damn fine looking custom controls…

The process of taking a raw, stock piece of metal, and turning it into a fully functional rearset, is time consuming.  But more so for version #1.  Like any major manufacturing company, Danny had to spend the time to do the R&D, and although some material was lost to changed ideas and new directions, the process evolved to a great looking addition to the bike.

The next steps will be to start carving out the levers and the base plate (which bolts to the frame), allowing a bit more creativity, and a chance to get up close, and personal with the milling attachment of the lathe.

The biggest challenge Danny will face with these bespoke rearsets, for the Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer, will be figuring out how to make the right foot peg hinge, to allow for using the kick starter.

Stay tuned for a shot of the completed set on this Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer…
