It seems that in my absence from the garage these past couple weeks, the boys have gotten down to business on Danny’s Yamaha XS650 Cafe Racer. One of the final pieces of the puzzle has been the exhaust, and although Danny thought he would end up buying a 2-1 deal, turns out an $80 raw material kit was the way to go…
With Jarred’s welding skills, and a willingness to just dive in and do it (Nike has nothing on this man!), a custom exhaust system, including pipes and an end piece (where a baffle will be inserted) was fabbed up.
My favorite aspect of this custom exhaust is how the pipe comes down from the head, and curves along the lines of the engine. Nice touch, and although it’s only tack welded for now, it looks like it will be a nifty looking feature of this Cafe Racer build.
This bike is so damned close, and we are all looking forward to hearing it fired up, and ridden off into the sunset…or at least into the smog of Brooklyn. Either way, the sound of these pipes will let you know this bike has arrived!
