Hogs in the ‘hood: Yamaha FZR

Yamaha FZR…not mine

After being away for a week in Vermont, with no new photos to post from my trip, it was good to get back to the city to start snapping ‘Hogs” again.  Ironic that the first bike I would come across would be another Yamaha FZR, since the one I had was just sold prior to my departure…

This Yamaha FZR is from ’91-’92, with the tell-tale single headlight.  The front side fairings are missing, and the wheels are different colors, but it still holds a bit of magic for me.  My 1993 FZR 600 will be missed, but the bike was just too much for me on the streets of the city.  These sportbikes want to go 130mph, not 30mph!

Despite needing some upgrades to bring them up to modern specs, the tweaks are easy enough, and the bike can be modified to run smooth and clean.  Better breaks and rear shock make this a bike plenty fast and safe too, and offers a great value compared to the more modern Yamaha R6 etc…
