The Kawasaki Versys with crackerjack pit crew…

This is the last post in the series about the trip to Vermont on the Kawasaki Versys.  While the bike was still new to me, I had ridden it daily around town (NYC) for a few weeks, and felt I had the feel of the bike down…

The biggest challenge on this part of the trip was to take the Kawasaki Versys onto the dirt roads of Vermont.  This bike has been misunderstood, no thanks to Kawasaki, who originally marketed it as a ‘go-anywhere’ bike.  Upon getting to know the bike, you quickly realize (as did the manufacturer), that it is NOT a BMW GS series style bike.  But that has not stopped people from throwing on dual-sport tires (as I plan to do, for future rides up to this neck of the woods), and taking this thing around the world…

The following video shows some footage of riding along the dirt roads, with stock tires, which everyone bitches about.  Honestly, I could have used a little more traction, but taking it slow provided enough confidence in the bike to handle these roads.  My memories of childhood, much of it spent on shitty dirt bikes, boosted the experience as well…
