Hogs in the ‘hood: BMW Streetfighter?

This BMW “streetfighter” is foreign to me, and I have not been able to find any info…

I don’t know a ton about BMW motorcycles, but I’ve obviously seen my fair share, and discussed them with enthusiasts on several occasions.  So I was surprised the other day when Scotty and I stumbled upon this BMW Streetfighter model, with no markings, and so far no info found online…

We were down in Carroll Gardens at Union Garage to grab a new helmet (Nolan N104 review coming soon), and parked just down the street was this beauty.  No idea what model it is.  Tried looking at the reg sticker, and around the bike close-up, but finally gave up before someone thought we were trying to boost it.

There were a couple notable distinctions (for me at least) that set it apart from most of the BMWs I have seen.  First is the more Naked, almost Streetfighter stance of the bike.  I have seen newer models have a look similar to this, but this bike seems a bit older, and certainly has an older (but unique) looking tank.  The next thing I noticed was the chrome/polished valve covers, which drew my eyes to the space where the classic Bing Carb would be, replaced instead by a Fuel Injection unit.

Lastly, there was a wild “shock” under the headstock, mounted on a plate behind the forks.  No idea what that’s all about – clearly I have to do some reading on BMW design.

If anyone knows what this BMW Streetfighter really is, please let us know…

    1. Nice! I knew you’d have the clarification. New to me for sure. Kinda neat after seeing so many of the modern ADV models around here.
