MotoPreserve Reader Chris got in touch with us about Mike’s Honda CB550 custom seat made from Teak wood.  Turns out Chris had done something similar, and hoped we might appreciate his handiwork…

Mike explains:

I built my seat by hand on the porch of my apartment.  I made a fiberglass shell and used Balsa wood strips over the shell, then put surf board fiberglass over the Balsa.  I was going for an old school woody wagon/ long-board feel.  About a month after I finished, I sold the bike and moved to Costa Rica.  The bike is a 1981 Honda cb650 custom. The tank is from a ’76 Honda 500t. I’m currently building a 1969 Honda cb350. I’ll get some pics up when I’m a little further along.

Thanks for looking!

There you have it!  The next big trend in custom builds… the wood seat.
