A friend of one of the guys stopped by the shop on his modern, 2007 Triumph Bonneville.  While we have been spoiled by having some gorgeous vintage Bonnevilles in the garage, this is one of the few modern models that seems to have just the right amount of tweaks…

There’s a cottage industry that’s popped p since the popularity of the Triumph Bonneville reissue.  Companies like British Customs have seized the opportunity to provide bolt-on mods for the new crop of Triumphs, allowing people to add simple, easy  customization to their motorcycles.  While people may argue the merits of such pre-fab fixes, this bike has been touched by a bit of both bolt-on and hands-on mods.

The owner has taken an electric knife to the seat, cutting away the bulk of the height, streamlining the profile.  Some cuts to the pan exposes the subframe, giving a glimpse of the metal beneath the seat.  The tank paint has been stripped in favor of the raw metal look, a choice that has been well-loved on this site.

The bolt-on mods have been kept fairly simple on this 2007 Triumph Bonneville, with subtle changes such as smaller gauges, brass gas cap and enduro style cross-bars up front.  There are a couple more flashy changes as well, like the spider-web front sprocket cover.

We have been on the fence about these new Bonneville’s, but this one seems to have mostly subtle changes that have added to the bike, as opposed to the over-the-top mods that seem to be floating around Brooklyn at the moment…
