Vintage Tool Restoration – Millers Falls Power Hacksaw

In part two of this vintage tool restoration, we paint this old Millers Falls Power Hacksaw.

Vintage Tool Restoration: paint and more

We purchased the paint for this project at Sherwin Williams. The paint is pricey, but the quality is outstanding and worth the expense. The oil-based paint goes on smooth and self-levels while stands up to the abuse seen in a metal shop. The color is custom mixed based on codes that float around the internet. This hue is modeled on old South Bend Lathe colors, but looks good on any old piece of gear. I purchased a gallon for the lathe rebuild we will be doing in the near future, and had plenty for this project as well.
