I have been slowly, and CAREFULLY having a go at the engine, to get it ready for honing and the new rings.  The first step was to remove the engine from the frame, and I quickly realized that the design of the frame itself, is so much better for engine repair, than the CB350.  One of the members at Moto Preserve has a CB350, and I have helped him remove the engine several times.  The shape and layout of the frame is such that it makes it rather difficult to manipulate the engine, and finally ease it out. I have had some time over the past few days to work on the new Honda CL360 project.  Although I should be working on the Honda CB550, to deal with the carb issues I had up in Vermont, I have become obsessed with getting this new Honda CL360 apart, so I can determine how many parts I will need (and afford!).  There is just something about a new project that always takes over your focus, at least when you first get it, when it still seems possible to mold this beast into what you envision for it. The Honda CL360 has the wrong side covers…

As mentioned earlier, while I was on vacation up in Vermont, I picked up a barn fresh Craigslist find.  Initially, I thought it was a Honda CB360, but made the mistake of not wiping the grime off the VIN plate well enough.  Also, I was thrown off by the side covers and low pipes, which declared that this bike was a CB.   Turns out it’s a 1975 CL360… Slight distinction.  Read More …
